It was inevitable for Nintendo's mascot to make his appearance on the new 3D handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, in time for the holiday season. On November 13, 2011, Super Mario 3D Land will launch, being the first Mario game for the 3D handheld console.

Fans will be happy to know that classic power-ups and enemies will return, while newcomers are sure to get enjoyment and fun out of this adventure platformer. With the unique 3D power of the Nintendo 3DS, players won't have to wear special 3D glasses to play. The level designs take advantage of the 3D capabilities, with players having to move Mario not only top to bottom of levels, but also forward into the spatial depths of the environment.

"Mario fans from every generation will love experiencing the Super Mario franchise in true 3D," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Making your way through the Mushroom Kingdom has never been so immersive, and Nintendo 3DS lets players dive into the action anytime, anywhere. The game is sure to put smiles on lots of faces this holiday season."

Players will also be able to examine some levels by using the gyro built into the Nintendo 3DS by tilting and leaning the device. And for players that are having a rough time with a level can activate an invincible White Tanooki Mario or P-Wing after losing too many lives to complete a level without the worry of enemies knocking Mario out.

Super Mario 3D Land will sell for the suggested retail price of $39.99 in the United States.
